Young - Rainey STAR Center
Seeing Success in a Whole New Light.

The Young-Rainey STAR Center is the high tech portal to Pinellas County's dynamic leadership in technological advancements. As the nation's only successful conversion of a former DOE nuclear weapons manufacturing plant, this 750,000 square foot technology center, owned by the county, has blossomed into the proud focus of science and research advancement on Florida's west coast. The STAR (science, technology and research) Center houses 28 varied technology firms including Raytheon, Constellation Technology, Concurrent Technologies, Pace Technology and Forensic Technology. Located on 96 acres in Pinellas County, and employing over 1500, the STAR Center is home to such technical procedures as analytical testing; X-ray, ultrasound and environmental testing; microfabrication; precision machining; microelectronics and hybrid circuiting.

Through a grant from the Department of Energy, the Pinellas Plant Community Reuse Organization, Inc. (CRO) has established the STAR Technology Enterprise Center (STAR TEC) , a new business accelerator program to assist aspiring manufacturing and technology-based businesses.
