Pinellas County Business Development Center Schedule of Business Seminars: April-June 2004

The Pinellas County Business Development Center offers free business training, counseling, referrals and resources to help your business prosper.  Seminars, held at the Center, fill quickly and advanced registration is required.

NxLeveL Business Planning                                           
Every Tuesday night from April13 – June 15, 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. 
NxLeveL is the premier training program for entrepreneurs and small businesses needing to develop a complete business plan suitable for obtaining financing and managing the growth of start-up and existing small businesses. A course fee of $149 includes a textbook, workbook, and 10 class sessions with expert speakers. 
Understanding Federal Taxes for the Small Business Owner
April 1, 12:00 noon. – 1:00 p.m.
Bring your own lunch and receive valuable insight on a wide range of tax topics for business owners, including: tax forms and publications, preparing returns, and record keeping.

Small Business Administration Programs and Services
                                                                       
April 8 and June 10, 10:00 a.m.  – 11:00 p.m.
This seminar provides an overview of SBA programs and services including loan and guarantee programs, technical assistance, private investment and resource partners, bonding, government contracting, and 8a minority small business certification. Presented by the SBA.

A Practical Overview of Small Business Finance

A hands on seminar that clearly explains how to obtain financing from a variety of sources to match the needs of your business. Bring your questions. Presented by Lunelle Siegel of Alliance Financial Capital.          
                                                           
Access to Capital (SBA Loan Programs)   
May 6, 10:00 a.m.  – 12:00 p.m.
This seminar provides and overview of the SBA 7a loan guarantee program, as well as micro loans, and 504 Economic Development programs. An SBA representative will cover eligibility, use of proceeds, evaluation criteria by lenders, and preparation for the application  process.                                                                                           

How to Start a Business
     
May 13, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This introductory workshop covers the minimum you need to know to get started in business. In addition to learning about licenses, permits, feasibility studies, finance, marketing, and business plans; you will also receive help to determine your personal strengths, weaknesses, and readiness for an entrepreneurial endeavor.
